Huntingdale opened on the Melbourne Sandbelt in 1941. English architect C. H. Alison prepared the design from models and contour plans, with curator Sam Berriman adapting it to the ground.
Alison designed the course without visiting Australia, yet Huntingdale went on to become famous as the home of the Australian Masters.
